The temperature sensor measures the temperature of the gas inside the pipeline, while the other is a velocity sensor, which is electrically heated to a temperature higher than that measured by the temperature sensor and maintains a constant temperature difference. When the gas flow carries away the heat from the velocity sensor, additional electrical compensation heating is required to maintain a constant temperature difference, and the power of this compensation is proportional to the gas mass flow rate.
